Article 3 We believe that God created Adam and Eve in His image, but they sinned when tempted by Satan.  In union with Adam, human beings are sinners by nature and by choice, alienated from God, and under His wrath.  Only through God’s saving work in Jesus Christ can we be rescued, reconciled and renewed. Adam and Eve were created in the image of God (Gen. 1:16-27; 5:1; 9:6).  This simply means that they (subsequently everyone) have things in common with God, or that we are like God and represent Him.  We are in no way a perfect representation of God, but it is how He made us.  At the fall of man (Gen 3:1-6), we willfully sinned and went against God’s plan for man.  Adam represented man, just as Jesus represents Christians now in God’s vision.  Because God made Adam the representative of all mankind, we have inherited guilt and sin.  This is passed down generation to generation seeping into everyone and separating us from God.  We are in union with Adam since he was the first m
